Ingredients
- Fresh Figs
- Balsamic Vinegar
- Goat Cheese
- Bread (crusty baguette or ciabatta)
- Honey
- Fresh Herbs (thyme or rosemary)
- Olive Oil
- Garlic Oil (optional)
- Cracked Black Pepper (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F).
- Slice the baguette or ciabatta into 1 cm thick slices and arrange them on a baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil and optionally brush with garlic oil.
- Toast the bread in the oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until golden and crisp.
- While the bread is toasting, wash and slice the fresh figs in half. If using dried figs, chop them into smaller pieces.
- In a small bowl, mix the halved figs with balsamic vinegar and a drizzle of honey. Let them marinate for about 10 minutes.
- Once the bread is toasted, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly. Spread a generous amount of goat cheese on each slice.
- Place the marinated figs on top of the cheese, cut side up. Drizzle any leftover balsamic mixture over the figs.
- Sprinkle fresh thyme or rosemary over the top. Optionally, add some cracked black pepper.
- Return the assembled crostinis to the oven for an additional 5 minutes to warm everything through.
- Remove from the oven, let cool for a moment, and serve warm.
