Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
- 1/2 cup melted unsalted butter
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup melted butter (for filling)
- 4 minced garlic cloves
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan
- Salt (to taste)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons of instant yeast, and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Mix well.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup of warm milk (110°F), 1/2 cup of melted unsalted butter, and 1 egg. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until a rough dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- While the dough is rising, mix 1/2 cup of melted butter with 4 minced garlic cloves, 1 cup of shredded mozzarella, and 1/2 cup of grated parmesan. Set this aside.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick. Brush the dough with the garlic butter mixture and sprinkle it evenly with the cheese.
- Starting from one long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces. Place each piece into a greased muffin tin, cut side up, and slightly twist to expose the layers.
- Cover the muffin tin with a cloth and let the cruffins rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and crispy on top.
- Let them cool for a few minutes before removing from the tin. Serve warm and enjoy the cheesy, garlicky goodness!
