Description
These cheesy sausage balls combine spicy breakfast sausage and sharp cheddar cheese, baked until golden. Ideal for parties or cozy nights, they are easy to make and sure to please a crowd!

- 1 pound of breakfast sausage (spicy recommended)
- 2 cups of shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon of baking powder
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon of onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
- 1/4 cup of milk
- 1/4 cup of chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, add the pound of breakfast sausage.
- Add the 2 cups of shredded sharp cheddar cheese to the bowl.
- Sprinkle in the 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper (if using).
- Mix everything together until well combined. If the mixture feels too dry, add a splash of milk.
- Pour in the 1/4 cup of milk and mix again until fully incorporated.
- Line your baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Scoop out about 1 tablespoon of the mixture and roll it into a ball (about the size of a golf ball).
- Place the rolled balls onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch of space between each ball.
- Continue rolling and placing the sausage balls until all the mixture is used up (should yield around 24-30 balls).
- Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
- Rotate the baking sheet halfway through for even cooking.
- Check for doneness with a meat thermometer (internal temperature should reach 160°F or 70°C) or ensure they are golden brown and firm to the touch.
- Let the sausage balls cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a serving platter.
- Optionally, sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley for garnish.
- Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce, like ranch or honey mustard.
Notes
- These sausage balls can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for longer storage.
