  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings

Description

Churrosaltine Toffee is a delightful fusion of classic churros and rich, buttery toffee, creating a crispy, salty-sweet treat that will leave you craving more. This unique dessert offers an irresistible combination of flavors and textures in every bite.

Ingredients

  • Saltine Crackers
  • Unsalted Butter
  • Brown Sugar
  • Vanilla Extract
  • Ground Cinnamon
  • Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • Granulated Sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil and parchment paper.
  2. Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer over the parchment paper, covering the entire bottom of the pan.
  3. In a medium saucepan, combine the unsalted butter and brown sugar over medium heat. Stir constantly until melted and the sugar has dissolved, then boil for 3 to 5 minutes until thickened and caramel-colored. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
  4. Carefully pour the hot toffee mixture over the arranged saltine crackers and spread it evenly. Bake for 5 to 7 minutes until bubbly and slightly darker around the edges.
  5. Remove from the oven and sprinkle the semi-sweet chocolate chips over the hot toffee. Let them sit for 5 minutes to melt, then spread into an even layer.
  6. Combine the granulated sugar and remaining 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon in a bowl and sprinkle over the melted chocolate layer.
  7. Allow the toffee to cool completely at room temperature, or refrigerate for 30-60 minutes. Once firm, lift the parchment paper and break the toffee into pieces.
