  • Author: Tessa
  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

Enjoy a comforting and indulgent meal with this creamy Asiago chicken, featuring tender chicken breasts in a rich sauce made from heavy cream and Asiago cheese. Perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions, this dish is sure to impress with its delightful flavors and creamy texture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup of heavy cream
  • 1 cup of grated Asiago cheese
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon of dried Italian herbs (oregano, basil, thyme)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup of chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken breasts to the skillet.
  3. Cook the chicken for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Check for doneness by cutting into the thickest part; it should be no longer pink and juices should run clear.
  4. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside on a plate. Cover with aluminum foil to keep warm.
  5. In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and add minced garlic. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  6. Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
  7. Stir in the heavy cream and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally until slightly thickened.
  8. Gradually add the grated Asiago cheese, stirring continuously until melted and creamy. Add more chicken broth if the sauce is too thick.
  9. Add dried Italian herbs and lemon juice, stirring to combine. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.
  10. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, spooning the creamy sauce over the top. Simmer for about 5 minutes to absorb flavors.
  11. For extra depth, sprinkle additional grated Asiago cheese on top and cover the skillet for a minute until melted.
  12. Remove the skillet from heat. Transfer chicken to a serving platter and spoon the creamy sauce over the top.
  13. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
  14. Serve with garlic mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, or a simple green salad.

Notes

  • For added nutrition, sauté spinach or sun-dried tomatoes with the garlic.
  • For a spicy kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
  • This dish can be made ahead and reheated gently, adding a splash of chicken broth or cream if the sauce thickens.
