Description

These Apple Cinnamon Rolls are a delightful fusion of fluffy dough, spiced apple filling, and a creamy glaze. Perfect for a weekend brunch or a cozy family gathering!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup melted unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 23 medium apples
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • ¼ cup softened butter
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk (or non-dairy alternative)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine 1 cup of warm milk (around 110°F) with 2 ¼ teaspoons of active dry yeast and 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 4 cups of all-purpose flour, ½ cup of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt.
  3. Once the yeast mixture is frothy, add it to the dry ingredients along with 1/3 cup of melted unsalted butter and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Stir until a dough forms.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. While the dough rises, peel and dice 2-3 medium apples. In a bowl, mix the apples with ½ cup of brown sugar, 2 teaspoons of cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Set aside.
  6. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle, about 16×24 inches.
  7. Spread ¼ cup of softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle the apple filling evenly across the surface.
  8. Starting from one long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Pinch the seams to seal and cut the log into 12 equal pieces.
  9. Place the rolls into a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  11. While the rolls are baking, whisk together 1 cup of powdered sugar and 2-3 tablespoons of milk (or non-dairy alternative) until smooth. Drizzle over the warm rolls once they’re out of the oven.
