Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 head green cabbage, chopped
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 chopped onion
- 1 diced bell pepper
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Fritos for topping
Instructions
- Start by chopping half a head of cabbage into bite-sized pieces. Rinse it under cold water and set it aside to drain.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add 1 pound of ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
- Toss in one chopped onion and one diced bell pepper to the skillet with the cooked beef. Sauté until the veggies are tender, about 5 minutes.
- Sprinkle in 2 teaspoons of chili powder, 1 teaspoon of cumin, and 1 teaspoon of garlic powder. Stir well and let the spices toast for about a minute.
- Gently fold in the chopped cabbage and 1 cup of tomato sauce. Cook for another 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender and everything is well combined.
- Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the mixture, covering it evenly. Allow it to melt for a few minutes on low heat.
- Once the cheese is melted and bubbly, remove the skillet from heat. Top generously with Fritos before serving to add that delightful crunch!
