- mini marshmallows (optional)
- chopped pecans (optional)

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- If using fresh sweet potatoes, peel and chop them into chunks. Boil them in a pot of water for about 15-20 minutes or until they are tender. Drain and let them cool slightly.
- In a large mixing bowl, mash the cooked sweet potatoes until smooth.
- To the mashed sweet potatoes, add 1/2 cup of melted butter, 1 cup of brown sugar, 2 beaten eggs, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Mix until all ingredients are well combined.
- Pour the sweet potato mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- In a separate bowl, mix together 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 1/3 cup of flour, and 1/3 cup of softened butter until crumbly. You can also add chopped pecans for a delightful crunch.
- Sprinkle the topping over the sweet potato mixture. If using marshmallows, add them on top of the crumb mixture.
- Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the marshmallows are melted and slightly toasted.
- Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving.
