- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup (90g) chocolate chips (optional)
- 1/2 cup (50g) chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Stir occasionally and remove from heat once melted.
- Add the granulated sugar to the melted butter and stir until well combined.
- Crack in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips and/or chopped nuts if desired.
- Grease an 8×8 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Optionally, sprinkle extra chocolate chips or nuts on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
- Let the brownies cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before cutting into squares.
- Serve warm or at room temperature, optionally with ice cream or chocolate sauce.
