  • Yield: 4 servings

Description

This Honey Garlic Chicken Breasts recipe is a perfect blend of sweet and savory flavors, making it an irresistible choice for a quick weeknight dinner. Enjoy tender, juicy chicken coated in a sticky honey-garlic sauce that will have everyone asking for seconds!

Ingredients

  • Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts
  • Honey
  • Fresh Garlic
  • Low-Sodium Soy Sauce
  • Rice Vinegar
  • Olive Oil (or other cooking oil)
  • Cornstarch (Optional)
  • Toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • Sliced green onions (scallions) (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. First things first, pat the boneless, skinless chicken breasts dry with paper towels.
  2. Place each chicken breast between two pieces of plastic wrap and gently pound them until they are about ¾-inch thick and uniform in size.
  3. Season the chicken lightly on both sides with a pinch of salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  4. In a medium bowl, combine the honey, freshly minced garlic, low-sodium soy sauce, and rice vinegar to make the honey garlic sauce.
  5. Whisk everything together until well combined and the honey is fully incorporated.
  6. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add a tablespoon of olive oil.
  7. Once the oil is shimmering, carefully add the chicken breasts to the hot skillet and sear for about 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown.
  8. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set it aside on a plate.
  9. Reduce the heat to medium and pour the prepared honey garlic sauce into the same skillet, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom.
  10. Return the seared chicken breasts to the skillet, nestling them into the sauce and spooning some of the sauce over the chicken.
  11. Let the chicken simmer in the sauce for another 5-8 minutes, or until cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  12. If you prefer a thicker sauce, whisk together 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of cold water to create a slurry and stir it into the simmering sauce.
  13. Continue to cook, stirring constantly, for 1-2 minutes until the sauce has thickened.
  14. Remove the skillet from the heat and garnish the chicken with toasted sesame seeds and fresh sliced green onions before serving.

Keywords: Pounding the chicken breasts to a uniform thickness ensures even cooking. For extra flavor, consider marinating the chicken in half of the honey garlic sauce for at least 30 minutes before cooking. Adjust the sweetness or tanginess of the sauce to your preference by adding more honey or rice vinegar.
