Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup hot water
- 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)
- Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for serving
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder. Whisk until well blended.
- Add the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined; a few lumps are okay.
- If desired, fold in the chocolate chips.
- In a separate bowl, mix the packed brown sugar with the hot water until dissolved. Set aside.
- Lightly grease a 9×9-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Carefully pour the hot fudge mixture over the batter, covering it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes. The top should look set, but the center will remain soft and fudgy.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
- Scoop into bowls and top with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Optionally, drizzle with chocolate syrup or sprinkle extra chocolate chips for decoration.
Notes
- Ensure not to overbake for that perfect gooey texture.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave before serving.
