  • Author: cooktrove
  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 9 servings 1x

Description

Indulge in this rich and gooey Hot Fudge Dessert, featuring a chocolate cake-like top and a luscious fudge layer underneath. Perfectly served warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, it’s a chocolate lover’s dream!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)
  • Whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder. Whisk until well blended.
  3. Add the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined; a few lumps are okay.
  4. If desired, fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix the packed brown sugar with the hot water until dissolved. Set aside.
  6. Lightly grease a 9×9-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  8. Carefully pour the hot fudge mixture over the batter, covering it evenly.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes. The top should look set, but the center will remain soft and fudgy.
  10. Remove from the oven and let cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
  11. Scoop into bowls and top with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Optionally, drizzle with chocolate syrup or sprinkle extra chocolate chips for decoration.

Notes

  • Ensure not to overbake for that perfect gooey texture.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave before serving.
