Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups warm milk (around 110°F)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/3 cup melted unsalted butter
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped strawberries
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 23 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of warm milk, 1/4 cup of granulated sugar, and 2 1/4 teaspoons of active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix in 1/3 cup of melted unsalted butter, 1 beaten egg, and 4 cups of all-purpose flour. Stir until a dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. While the dough is rising, prepare the filling by beating together 8 ounces of cream cheese, 1/2 cup of powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth. Gently fold in 1 cup of chopped strawberries.
  5. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle (about 16×24 inches).
  6. Evenly spread the cream cheese and strawberry filling over the dough, leaving about a 1-inch border around the edges.
  7. Starting from the long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Pinch the seam to seal it.
  8. Slice the log into 12 equal pieces and place them in a greased baking dish, leaving a little space between each roll.
  9. Cover the rolls with a towel and let them rise again for about 30 minutes until puffy.
  10. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for about 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. While the rolls are baking, whisk together 1 cup of powdered sugar, 2-3 tablespoons of milk, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth.
  12. Once the rolls are out of the oven, let them cool slightly before drizzling the glaze on top.

Keywords: Ensure your milk is warm but not hot to avoid killing the yeast. Give the dough enough time to rise for fluffy rolls. Use fresh strawberries for the best flavor.
