Ingredients
-
1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
-
3 tbsp raspberry jam or 1/4 cup mashed fresh raspberries
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
1 tbsp powdered sugar (plus more for garnish)
-
16–20 wonton wrappers
-
1 egg, beaten (for sealing edges)
-
Canola or vegetable oil, for frying
Optional for serving:
-
Melted chocolate, for dipping
-
Fresh raspberries
-
Extra powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
-
In a small bowl, mix together cream cheese, raspberry jam, vanilla, and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
-
Place 1 wonton wrapper on a flat surface. Add 1 teaspoon of filling in the center.
-
Brush the edges with beaten egg, then fold into a triangle or bring all corners together into a pouch. Press edges to seal well.
-
In a skillet, heat 1–2 inches of oil to 350–365°F (175–185°C).
-
Fry wontons in small batches, 30–45 seconds per side, or until golden brown.
-
Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
-
Serve warm with a dusting of powdered sugar, and optional dipping sauce or chocolate drizzle.
Notes
-
Only use 1 tsp of filling per wonton—overfilling causes leaks.
-
Seal tightly with egg wash to prevent filling from escaping while frying.
-
These can be baked or air-fried for a lighter version (see post).
-
Freeze assembled (uncooked) wontons in a single layer, then transfer to a bag for easy frying later.
-
Try strawberry or blueberry jam as fun swaps!
